This week on RAW . . . |

Kane wasn't used on RAW. A good month before WM21, and KANE wasn't featured or in the beginning stages of setting up a feud for THE BIGGEST PPV draw of the year . . . Go figure! I watched an old tape the other day, my 13 year old says it was from 2000 - I say later, of SmackDown! I was thrunderstruck by the sheer numbers of people attending a show! And this was NOT a PPV! This was when Mick Foley was the WWE Commissioner, and I sat there in awe of what the WWE used to offer it's fans in the way of weekly entertainment! Everyone on the show was showcased to their best - getting AWESOME exposure, there was not two hour long spotlight on one wrestler or management's favorite faction. This suprised me, since the whole premise behind breaking the wwe roster in two was to give the roster more exposure time. Instead, it's simply become one faction's weekly chance to stuff themselves down our throats while we protest, choke and gag. Fan indication that something else if merited if the wwe wants to continue enjoying success falls on the deaf and blind within the hierarchy of the company. They showcase whom ever they consider the flavor of the month, well, better make that the flavor of the past couple of years, at the espense of other, far better entertainers and of losing fan interest . . . because they can. Erroneously, they seem to believe fans will stay onbard because there isn't any other game in town. Statistically, it's been proven that fans are leaving "the game" in droves. The WWE may be the only grandiose professional wrestling company around, but there are plenty of other modes of entertainment the people can tap into, and it seems they have. It's necessary for the WWE to go back to the formula they were utilizing in the late 90's and early 2000, BEFORE the brand split if they wish to see any strengthening of the numbers of fans and revenue. I'm not saying they necissarily have to merge the brands back together, just use that extremely successful formula of yore to bring back the overall entertainment factor in WWE programming. |
